Welcome!

My name is Lucien Soulban and I am your host. The door’s always open. My home is your home, as they say, so feel free to look around, kick up your feet and don’t bother putting your drinks on coasters… it’s all virtual.

If you’re wondering about the décor, I think it best exemplifies my life. I’ve visited and lived in a modest variety of countries and I’ve always been fascinated by the lost and forgotten ruins of our history. I’ve visited Petra, Pompeii, the Parthenon, the Pyramids and many other places that begin with the letter P*. You’ll find such places and the allure of their mysteries echoed in my writing.

I currently live in beautiful Montreal, Quebec, as a proud Canadian citizen of 16-odd years and writing happily for about as long. I am an avid comic collector and essentially a kid at heart with a twisted imagination.

*Excluding Pakistan, Palau, Palestine, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, The Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Purgatory, Perdition, Poughkeepsie, Pennsylvania… you get the idea.

Current News

December 18, 2007: Blood Lite!
I’m happy to announce that my short story, “Hell in a Handbasket,” was accepted into Blood Lite, the Horror Writers Association’s anthology (released through Pocket Books) that mixes horror and humor. And before you wonder how the two genres met, bought each other drinks and went back to Horror’s apartment to copulate, remember the fine tradition of comedic horror movies like Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, Shaun of the Dead and House of the Dead.

What?

House of the Dead wasn’t trying to be funny?

Well… maybe not intentionally, but I was laughing pretty hard.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE!

December 17, 2007: Fall Cleaning
Let me clear away those cobwebs for you. Yeah, it’s been a while since I updated the site, but I’m going to change that. The various credits pages have been updated, thanks to an interesting year.

  • I’m back to freelancing full time, and I couldn’t be happier.
  • December 2007 (UK) and January 2008 (North America) see the release of my fourth novel, entitled Desert Raiders for the Warhammer 40K Universe.
  • Now in stores, my short story “Serenade” for the Horrors Beyond II anthology.
  • I finished up the first and second drafts of my horror novel, entitled Nest of Shadows. It’s time to move on to my third editing pass.

More to come… I promise!
